What Would You Do

1. Every Christmas this one family member sends out floral arrangements to the rest of us as his gift. He told me once that he goes to his local florist and instructs them to create a "whiz bang" bouquet, and he also once told me the budget that he gives the florist. I know for a fact that he would be very upset and embarrassed if he saw the arrangements that we actually receive. They are not at all what he would select if he was actually selecting the arrangement. Part of me thinks he should know and would want to know, but another part of me wonders if I would come off as ungrateful. And another part of me wonders if this is way too much thought on my part given that his only input into the gift is "whiz bang" and budget.

2. Should a 27 year old be dating an 18 year old?

  1. 1. Maybe send him a picture of it, with a little thank you. This way he can see what you are being sent, but you aren't saying anything ungrateful?...tough situation.

    2. Well, the maturity level between 18 & 27 is huge! But, if it works for them...then let them try it out. But I'm leaning more towards a no.

I hope you'll check out my blog&giveaway, plus a link up called Wish! {out loud} that I hope you'll participate in!

  2. I met my husband when I was 18 and he was 29. He said his first thought was "Nice legs, too young." We became friends. And then more. I was 18 going on 30, so it worked. Anyway, at the end of the month, we celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary.

Now if the 18 year-old were my daughter? The answer would be HELL NO.

  3. I agree with Robin. Send a thank you note with a photo of them. Maybe a photo of you smiling and holding them. It will come off as a nice gesture on your part and he can decide for himself if it is whiz bang.

BTW, this post has made me realize how underrated whiz bang is as a phrase. I am going to make an effort to work it into conversation at least once per day.

  4. Here's another comment about it working. I met my husband when I was 18 and he was 27, so the exact same age difference. We've now been together for 21 years, married for 14 and 2 beautiful children to show for it all.
