Weekend Treat - Knives and Forks!

Weekend Treat is going to take a bit of a different turn. Instead of just posting pictures of things I want, I am going to post pictures of things I have and that I love. Why would I do that? Because I am a narcissist? Well, I taught my son 240 sign language symbols before he was one, got the highest grade in my business law class, personally started the Guess jeans fad in the early 80s, and can run 5 miles without breaking a sweat, but no. I'm not a narcissist.

Rather, I suspect a large majority of you read blogs for the same reason I do. I'm just plain interested in how other people live their lives and their stories and the things that make them happy. It's like when your husband is driving you to dinner and it's dark so you finally get a chance to look in all the windows of the neighbors who have left their curtains open. I love seeing what color people paint their dining room. This is infinitely fascinating to me. And it is infinitely fascinating to me what people hang on their walls and the lack of things they have to hang on their walls.

But I digress. I simply love it when people share things from their own lives that make them happy. It's interesting and, from time to time, I get an idea or two that I make my own. So, for those of you that feel the same way . . . I own this flatware and it makes me very happy. I own the tortoiseshell ones and have forever and they have held up in the dishwasher for years and years. If I didn't already have the tortoiseshell ones, I would get the orange ones. It would be impossible to stir your coffee with an orange spoon and not be happy. Sometimes I want the pink ones because I am surrounded by boyz (see yesterday's post). I have a gray dining room and an off-white living room specifically so I can add different bright colors as the mood hits.

Weekend Treat, Clinique Lip Smoothie

As noted earlier, I am naturally luminescent (of Scottish decent - pale, with freckles). Accordingly, all of those things that the experts claim to be universally flattering do not work on me. Nars orgasm blush looks like hell on me.

I have been craving some bright summer lipstick, but its hard to find brights that don't look clownish on a naturally luminescent person.

I was at Macy's picking up some Clinique sun screen for our ski trip and it happened to be Bonus Time! When the lady said I only needed to spend 3 more dollars to get the Bonus, I spent another $17.50 on this lipgloss.

Well, I love it. The Mango-Thon Clinique Lip Smoothie is the perfect bright for the tanless. Also, it feels soothing too - which is a nice extra around this time of the year. As we all know, the right lipstick functions like a superhero's cape. I am wearing Mango-Thon lipgloss - if I felt like it, I could draft a lasting peace plan for the Middle East, balance the national budget and cook a delicous dinner that my entire family would love.

Despite the pale skin and freckles, I do not have red hair. You would think, but no. I do not know what color my hair really is. Sometimes I have ideas when I go into my stylist regarding my cut and color, however this is exactly what my stylist says: "I don't tell you how to practice law." I pay good money to be treated that way.

Weekend Treat - Margarita Accessory

I am so happy to have such a great entry for the return of Weekend Treat. Check out these pendants . . .

They are part of a drawing at The Life of a Suburban Princess http://thelifeofasuburbanprincess.com/ but hurry because the drawing is on Monday. If you don't win, they can be purchased at http://www.perfectlypreppy.com/.

Oh the tactile thick smooth surface. I imagine these would look very good with all the beachwear that I will be taking to Baja in two weeks. A perfect accessory to wear while drinking margaritas.

Weekend Treat

These hexagonal glass drawer pulls come in a bunch of delicious colors at houseofantiquehardware.com. When new furniture is out of the budget, I use these to add flair to the old stuff. I like the opaque milkiness of the one pictured, and there are black ones that have a nice art deco feel.

The other thing I enjoy about hardware is that it helps tie together the mishmash that is our gingerbread house, my mid mod furniture and accessories, and my mom's Calico Corners furniture.
